Self-Guided Tours

I have created two self-guided tours for those of you, who can’t join the regular tours due to the start time not fitting your schedule for example.

Self-guided tours are perfect if you would like to take a tour at your own pace, and have breaks in between stops for an apple strudel 😉 or visiting a museum for instance.

You can start the tour anytime, it makes you extremely flexible. In addition to that, a self-guided tour is the most cost-effective way to learn about the city.

If you wish to be introduced to the city choose the Salzburg Highlights tour. If you are interested in the Sound of Music Maria and the Von Trapps tour is the one for you.

Each of them is just over 2 hours long.

A map is provided, which will lead you to each stop, where you can listen to a few minutes of me telling you about that location.

We will start our walk through Salzburg with the right side of the river where you can enjoy a baroque garden and a stroll along its river the Salzach
Then we will visit the Old Town with its opulent squares; walk amongst its many churches and hills, and along its narrow streets with beautiful pastel-coloured houses

All you need is a phone and headphones, not even an internet connection is necessary since you can download the tour and view it offline.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes
If hot make sure you have water with you, in case it rains bring an umbrella
Public toilettes are available to use en route, however you need a 50 cent coin to use them

More Info – Austria Guide

To become an official licensed tourist guide in Austria means completing a 2 year compulsory course offered by the state, then being examined for all your chosen languages, guiding on a bus and while walking, a written and oral exam covering topics from the whole course.

Once all classes are attended, all semesters and exams are passed successfully an official trade licence for guiding is issued, which enables guiding anywhere in Austria as an “Austria Guide”.
